Community Cup Finals - Wed 19th December

17th December 2007

The Community Cup, Armagh RFCs floodlit tournament for U14 and U16 teams reaches a climax this Wednesday night, 19th December, as both finals are played out between Banbridge and Monaghan.

In a slight change from previous years, the organisers have decided to run the finals back to back rather than concurrently as there are families with sons playing in both age groups, so with this format parents are not shuttling between pitches.

The U14 Final will kick-off at 7:00pm, and the U16 Final will kick-off immediately after that, estimated at 8:15pm. It is hoped, but not yet confirmed, that a member of the Ulster squad will be on hand to present medals and trophies after the matches.

Now in its' third year, The Community Cup has increased in popularity year on year and whoever wins this year, new names will be on both trophies.

Tournament organiser Paul McCord remarked, "It is especially gratifying to see new clubs represented in our finals. Each year we see teams from all over the province entering this tournament , and we hope that the progress made by clubs such as Randalstown and Newry in this years event will not only bring them back next year, but attract even more clubs to enter".

Everyone is welcome to The Palace Grounds to watch and support the two finals.
