Firstly, it's a great privilege to take over the role of Club President from Noel Conn, who has been a fantastic motivational force in ensuring the continued success of the City of Armagh Rugby Club.
Welcome to the 2011/2012 season which should prove to be excitin g and challenging for all, following on from last year's highly successful season which saw our 1st XV securing promotion to the Ulster Bank All Ireland League.
Great success on the pitch was also achieved by our 2nd XV, our 3rd XV, our U15s and the combined Armagh/Monaghan U19 team. Our enthusiastic Ladies, Youth and Mini Rugby coaches and players are all vital elements in the growth and development of our Club and deserve recognition and continued support from all Club members.
All of our joint efforts and successes culminated in the City of Armagh winning the coveted title from Ulster Rugby as Club Of The Year 2010-2011.
Many improvements have been made to the Club House facilities, however, major fund-raising is required to continue this development work and I ask that everyone give their maximum support to the Club in both fund-raising and social events. Where possible, please support all our events which we hope to arrange during the year and these will be promoted on our website and through our facebook page.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our players, coaches, members and indeed our generous sponsors for their dedication and continued support. It is essential to capitalise and build on our successes and continue to recruit new players and club members. If you know of any potential members, please contact myself or Andrew Rowan in order to complete a new membership form.
Finally to the Club Captain Phil Hill, players, coaches and members, I wish you a very enjoyable and successful season and look forward to representing you all as President for this incoming year.
