PRESS RELEASE - New Head Coach At Armagh RFC

22nd April 2008

Armagh RFC are pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Hughes as Player Coach for the forthcoming season . Andy has been an ever present in the Dungannon 1st XV for almost 10 years and has been key to their success in that time. He will assume responsibility at Armagh at the end of this season.

Armagh RFC would also like to place on record their gratitude to departing Coach Colin Steenson who steps down in the next week. Colin has been with the club for some years and in his two and a half seasons as Head Coach led the 1st XV to significant success, winning 2 Junior Cups, 1 Towns Cup, 1 Past Players Cup as well as winning Junior Qualifying League 1 and narrowly missing out on an AIL Division 3 place in a play-off.

A Club spokesman said, “Colin has given us tremendous success over the years and we wish him every success in his next rol , however to continue evolving as a club sometimes change is necessary even when a club is performing well. Our main goal remains to continue our improvement and success across the club and we feel we have a squad of players more than capable of holding their own at a higher level. We think the combination of these players with Andy’s experience and fresh ideas will take us further down the road to success.”
