Sports Dinner - Saturday 16th February 2008

01st January 2008

Following from our highly successful event of just over 18 months ago, on behalf of Armagh Rugby Club I would like to invite you to our next Sports Dinner at The City Hotel Armagh on Saturday, February 16 th, 2008.This promises to be a memorable evening with celebrity speakers, a few games to keep you entertained, a raffle, an auction, simply a great night out leaving all with memories which will last some time.

Our guest speaker is George Hook, someone very well known as one of the main rugby presenters on RTE, and also more recently as a radio show presenter on NewsTalk 106. The night will finish with live music from American Pie.

As with our previous dinner, there is a more serious side and while an element of what we do is designed to help us meet the increasing costs of running a sports club and providing facilities for our community we also intend to benefit those less fortunate than ourselves.

As such, we are delighted to announce once more that our beneficiary of the evening will be The Wooden Spoon Society, a charity which enjoys patronage from all four Home Unions and an organisation which works to help disadvantaged children throughout the UK and Ireland. Their joint Honorary Presidents in Northern Ireland are two legends of local and worldwide rugby, Dr Jack Kyle and Willie John McBride MBE.

Following our first Sports Dinner in 2004, this society agreed to help out two Armagh causes and have recently presented cheques to both Longstone Riding for the Disabled and Oaklands to help fund both essential maintenance and further development of their respective facilities which do so much locally.

Further details of this society, and their work, can be found at www.woodenspoonsoc.org.uk

Places are available for this event on a first come first served basis, and can be bought individually or as a group.

Dress is Black Tie or Club Blazer and Tie and the event is open to all. Individual tickets are £50.00, or a table of ten can be bought for £500.00.

Places are expected to sell out quickly given the success of our previous event and we would be grateful if you could return booking forms as soon as possible. Booking Forms are available from Paul McCord at paul.mccord1@btinternet.com or info@armaghrfc.com.

We appreciate that the date will not always suit and therefore will gratefully accept, on behalf of the Wooden Spoon Society, any donations you would care to make in absentia.

Yours Sincerely,

Paul McCord
Past President – City of Armagh RFC
