Charlie Nets 44 Points At Armagh RFC Golf Classic

17th August 2007

Local potato distributor, Charlie Johnston will once again have his handicap reviewed following a mammoth 44 points score to win the individual prize at Armagh Rugby Club’s Golf Classic at Loughgall Golf and Country Club on Friday 17th August.

He was closely followed by Stuart Stevenson and Ted Atkinson both on 43 points with Stuart claiming second place with his superb 23 points on the back nine playing off a 5 handicap. The team prize was won by David Ferguson’s First Trust Bank Armagh, who were coincidentally the main sponsor.

The First Trust team was David Ferguson, Connor McCann, Shay O’Neill and Gordon Campbell.

Second team prize went to James Johnston’s team which included Stuart Stevenson, Norman Stewart and Keith Hamilton. Lorraine Abbott won the prize for the best lady score with 41 points.

The Rugby Club would like to take to thank Ulster Rugby Captain David Humphries and First Trust’s David Ferguson who presented the prizes and Philip Russell of ProGolf Newry and Mark Frazer of Star, Sound and Vision who supplied the excellent prizes.

Thanks also go to Loughgall Golf and Country Club for the use of their many facilities and to all of the many sponsors for their support.
