Canadian Visitors At The Palace Grounds

17th October 2006

Armagh rugby were delighted to receive another visit this week from Helen Taylor and her sister Hilda. The two Canadian ladies have family connections with the club and called to admire their great uncle's photographs.

These photographs form part of a large collection adorning the walls of the club house. The Canadian gentleman had played for Armagh in their successful cup runs before the Great War and then emigrated to Canada.

His fondness for his club remained very strong in the family and the two ladies called last year to visit the club accompanied with their 95 year old father, the nephew of Wilton.

But this year he stayed home in Canada, planning his next year's trip to Ireland.

Plans are afoot to welcome them as special guests at one of Armagh's next functions.

Des Fitzgerald presented the visitors with an Armagh jersey.
