Armagh Mini Rugby Win Community Sports Award 28th May 2008

Armagh Rugby Club - 2008 Ulster Club Of The Year 19th May 2008

The annual Guinness Ulster Rugby Awards Ceremony was held on Wednesday evening at the La Mon Hotel in Belfast where over 430 guests gathered to celebrate achievements and development of rugby at all levels.

James Morton - Kukri Player Of The Month 19th May 2008

James Morton has been named, for the second time this season, as the Kukri Player of the Month.

James has captained the Armagh 1st XV side for two seasons, helping them lift numerous cups and has played on the Ulster Junior team.  
 
 
Armagh Nominated For Club Of The Year 05th May 2008

Armagh have been nominated along with Letterkenny and Portadown as Club of the Year at the upcoming Ulster Rugby Awards. The winner will be announced at a dinner in mid May and although up against strong rivals Armagh must have a good chance given this years successes.

Death of Past President - Jim Scott 10th Apr 2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jim Scott. Jim was a Past President and Treasurer of Armagh Rugby Club who will be sadly missed.

As a mark of respect Armagh RFC will hold a minutes silence before Saturday's semi-final Junior Cup match.

The Armagh RFC committee and members send their condolences to Jim's family at this sad time.

Luxury Weekend In Rome For 2 Draw, Sat 5th April 01st Apr 2008

Buses To Towns Cup Final - EASTER MONDAY 21st March 2008

Buses to the Powerade Towns Cup final will depart the Palace Grounds, Monday 24th March, at 12 noon, for Ravenhill. The match will kick-off at 2:30pm.

Sports Dinner 18th Feb 2008

George Hook, RTE Rugby Pundit and host of Newstalks evening drive time show was the star of last Saturday's Sports Dinner organised by Armagh Rugby Club in the Armagh City Hotel.

Known for his forthright views on Eddie O'Sullivan, Ulster Rugby and indeed any other subject, George held the attention of a large audience for some 45 minutes as a climax to the evening.

Armagh Rugby Club would like to thank George Richard Bell of Wilsons Auctions and Christopher Rowan for their attendance and support on the night.
 
 
 
House Draw Winners Receive Keys 21st Jan 2008

The winner of the Armagh Rugby Club Development Club House Draw, Christine Rountree from Collone, and John Gribben who won the second prize of a car were invited to the pre-match hospitality on Saturday, before the Coleraine match kicked off, to officially receive each of their prizes.

House Draw Winners 01st Jan 2008

The house draw for the Armagh Rugby Club Development Club took place on New Years Eve, Monday 31st Janurary 2007.

An independent representative from Gus Campbell Solicitors, in Armagh, oversaw the draw and drew the winners.

The winner of the draw was Christine Rountree from Collone, who won the house while John Gribben was drawn second to win the car with Gregory Allen drawn third to take £3,000.

Armagh Rugby Club would like to thank all those people who supported the Club by becoming members of the City of Armagh Rugby Club Development Club House Draw. The funds raised will be used towards improvements to the Club house, grounds, refurbishment of the upstairs bar area, toilets and changing rooms.

Happy Hooker Charity Cup - Friday 09th November 06th Nov 2007

The Happy Hooker Charity Cup will be played this Friday night, the 09th November, at the Palace Grounds under flood-lights with a 7:30pm kick-off. This competition between the Pearse Ogs and Armagh rugby dates back to the 1993.

It is with great sadness and as a mark of respect that Armagh RFC have had to cancel all senior matches both home and away this Saturday, due to the passing away yesterday of John Steenson, father of Armagh RFC fullback Johnny Steenson.

The Armagh RFC committee and members send their condolences to Johnny and the family at this sad time.

Flood-Lit Youth Tournament Latest 17th Sept 2007

The PSNI Community Cup was set up by Armagh RFC three seasons ago to both compliment existing age group competitions and to give all clubs a chance to experience tournament rugby under floodlights at an U14 and U16 level.

Irish Exiles Train At Palace Grounds 28th Aug 2007

The Exiles Under-18 squad made their annual pilgrimage to Ireland last month, playing Ulster on Friday, August 24 at Malone, and Leinster on Sunday, August 26, at Barnhall. Charlie Nets 44 Points At Armagh RFC Golf Classic 19th Aug 2007

Local potato distributor, Charlie Johnston will once again have his handicap reviewed following a mammoth 44 points score to win the individual prize at Armagh Rugby Club’s Golf Classic at Loughgall Golf and Country Club on Friday 17th August.

Lynn Atkinson and Alan Redpath Marry 09th July 2007

Alan and Lynn were married in St. John's Church Lisnadill. Lynn is the daughter of Armagh Rugby Club stalwart John Atkinson and sister of Belfast Harlequin's captain & ex Armagh rugby full-back, Colin Atkinson. Alan's elder brother, Jack, acted as best man. Golf Day - Fri August 17th - Loughgall Golf Club 16th May 2007

Armagh RFC will be holding their annual Golf Day on Friday August 17th at Loughgall Golf Club. A fourball will cost £200 with dinner included and individuals may play for £50. Sponsorships are also on offer as we are looking for people to sponsor Tees, Greens plus the Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin competitions.

Armagh RFC - Youth Development Officer 02nd July 2007

Armagh RFC are currently looking for a motivated individual to take on the role of Youth Development Officer. This role is vital for the ongoing development of Rugby in local schools feeding into Armagh's Youth Rugby structure. Individuals are expected to take responsibility for liaising with primary and secondary schools in the Armagh area, developing and running coaching plans for the schools in conjunction with the teachers, and implementing any Youth initiatives handed down from the Ulster Branch in a structured manner.

This is a salaried role, previous coaching experience is advantageous. Please be aware that, if successful, the candidate will be employed directly by the Ulster Branch and will be interviewed as part of the Branch YDO recruitment process. Mini Rugby Coach In Belfast Marathon Charity Run 17th April 2007

One of Armagh's Mini Rugby coaches, Mike Boyd, will be running the Belfast Marathon this year in aid of the Wooden Spoon charity, the official charity for the Home Unions and a charity which focuses on assisting underprivileged and handicapped children.

Armagh Rugby Physio Moves On 10th March 2007

Kyla Mayes has served Armagh rugby as Physiotherapist for the past 18 months is moving on. Due to pressure of work Kyla has decided to devote more time to her career.

Many times Kyla has been summoned on to the field to determine if a player can continue in Armagh 's busy League campaign. We all, at Armagh Rugby, wish Kyla all the very best and hope she will return to The Palace Grounds as a spectator in the future.  View News

Armagh Player, Stephen Auld, Visits China 20th January 2007

Stephen Auld, the regular scrum-half for Armagh rugby, leaves these shores on Sunday 21st January bound for China.

Phil Polack Marries 09th December 2006

On 9th December Katrina Curry & Phil (Aussie Phil) Polack got married in Tullysarron. Phil came to Armagh from New South Wales, Australia, in 2001 and Katrina is from Tullysarron, Armagh.Katrina is a keen Camogie player & also coaches @ the Tullysarron club. Surprise Birthday For Tommy Kennedy 02nd December 2006

Armagh rugby hosted a memorable occasion on Saturday last when Tommy Kennedy celebrated his 70 th birthday. The event was kept a secret from Tommy and Gladys. It came as a huge surprise to them both when they were inveigled back to the club-house to face a huge crowd which had assembled.
