City of Armagh 4th XV (34) vs Omagh 4th XV (17)

Saturday 10th September 2011

City of Armagh 4XV, Dream Team, welcomed Josh Morton to his first taste of Minor rugby and welcomed back Mark Harding after a 3 year break, who got into the thick of the action straight away. Armaghexpected a hard game from last years league winners and Omagh did not disappoint on a windy afternoon.

Omagh showed why they were unbeaten last year in the league by fielding a very strong team. Omagh dominated up front and scored within the 1st 5 minutes, through there forwards. Armagh wrestled for possession for the next 20 minutes as the game stayed around the half way line.

Omagh forwards started to tire which let Armagh get 4 and 5 phases together. Josh Morton opened the scoreing, with a well seen gap in the defence, he then chipped long to gather to score again under the posts this time with 2 defenders hanging off him, he converted his 2 scores against a strong wind.

Paul Cully showed why he was in the team with a hard worked score in the corner, Paul rounding off the hard work of Rory Hanna in the loose. Omagh bounced back after the break with another well worked maul in the corner.

Armagh started to run the big pack around which resulted in Dave black scoring in the corner after some great support play on the wing. Andrew Fletcher stepped up next with a drive over the line, bouncing 2 Omagh forwards out of his way to score close to the posts.

Omagh bounced back with another forward try, putting a lot of pressure on theArmagh line, Bob Bell had seemed to hold it up when the ref awarded the try.

Mark MacKey made another good break from deep to pop the ball to Stan Hamilton who crossed the line forArmagh’s last score. Rory Hanna was awarded the player of the match, with all the forwards fronting up well against the biggest pack in the league.

The Dream Team's extra training is already paying off on Mondays. If any past players fancy a match contact Andrew Fletcher at the Club.
