Armagh 3rd XV (23) vs Ballynahinch 7th XV (10)

20th September 2006

Armagh 3rds returned to winning ways with a hard thought win against Hinch 7ths. From the off Armagh should have run in several times, however poor hands in the final passage of play failed to produce the goods. After some scrappy play, Armagh started to settle and play to their best.

With the forwards starting to gain solid ground in attack, the backs then showed what they could do with Davy Faloon running in the first try of the game under the posts, with the conversion being missed. With Armagh finally on the score board, they continued and conceded a penalty, but soon after were rewarded one of their own, leaving the score at 08-03 at the half. From the restart, Armagh agained to test the Hinch defense, but failed to score.

Then, after good forwards work and attacking from Shilliday and Pablo, the backs once again got a good recycled ball, and going through the hands, it allowed Stanley Hamilton into the corner for the 2nd try of the game after out-pacing several Hinch players, conversion missed. Fletcher and Hazelton were then replaced by Agnew and McMahon.

With the scrums and lineouts working well, and with Shilliday and Pablo continuing to cause problems with the Hinch defence, Waldo then ran in the 3rd try of the game with the conversion being missed.

After the restart Hinch started to settle themselves and ran in good passages of play, pinning Armagh into their own twenty two, which led to a Hinch try and conversion.

Armagh settled again, and continuing to attack with Davy Faloon releasing good ball to the backs, but it was G.Warnock who ran the last try of the game, with a 3 on 2 overlap, conversion missed, leaving the final score 23-10. Man of the match Davy Faloon.
