Cavan 2nd XV (07) vs Dream Team 3rd XV (36)

28th January 2008

Armagh travelled to Cavan with a mix of youth and experience. Norman Morton's son Stephen made his first appearance for the 3rds along with John Faloon and they both put in fine performances.

Armagh started strongly with the forwards dominating possession in the lineout with young James Faloon scoring following quick ruck ball and a fine break by McCall to set up the winger for the first try of the day.

Continued pressure from armagh resulted in another try for Stan Hamilton with a clever interception on the halfway line.

Armagh now ran the ball at every opportunity but the cavan tacking was out of the top drawer but eventually Armagh scored another try following a break by Stanley Hamilton for wild to finish off the move.

Waldo then picked from the base of the scrum and beat his oppisite number before passing to Johnny Rob and he scored a classic Third Fifteen try.

Willie McSorley added three conversions to give armagh a 26 points to 07 lead at halftime.

Cavan started the second half strongly, but strong tackling from all fifteen players kept the armagh line intact.

The youngsters in the side then really started to make their presence felt and a kick through and pickup by John Faloon resulted in a 2nd try for Waldo.

Conor O'Neil, Sam Wilson and Neil Agnew had a great game in the front row and they put a lot of pressure on the cavan pack. Colin Cochrane in the back row along with Stephen Morton made some telling breaks in open play.

Waldo, Chris Wallace, Picks Up To Score A Try!

Colin was rewarded with a pushover try following a lineout on the Cavan five metre line.

Willie McSorley and Tom McConville ran well in the backs and they were also very strong in defence. Peter Hazelton was very pleased with the overall result which sees armagh in joint pole position with Dungannon in the league.
