Armagh 3rds entertained Dungannon 4ths in a top of the table game at the Palace grounds in very wet conditions. Peter Hazelton won the toss and he elected to play with the conditions and this was to prove a fine decision.
Armagh's forwards soon gained the upper hand and from a lineout in Dungannon's twenty two, the forwards managed to drive over from 15 metres out. Continued pressure resulted in a second try for the forwards from a catch and drive on Dungannons twenty two. Dungannon were shell shocked at this stage and the Armagh forwards played with aggression rarely seen at the Palace grounds and they continued to turnover Dungannon possession.
Simon Cuttle carved out space in the midfield which resulted in an easy run in for Phil McAlister. By this stage the Armagh pack were now totally in control and from a scrum deep in the Armagh twenty two, Chris Wllace broke from the base of a scrum and raced some 50 metres before scissoring with Stanley Hamilton who scored unapposed at the posts. This try was of the top drawer considering the conditions and this ended a very successful first half for Armagh.
Dungannon started the second half strongly, but the Armagh forward were soon on top and Chapman made a fine break down the blindside before drawing two defenders to release Colin Cochrane for the simplest of touchdowns.
The forwards continued to provide good possession for the backs and Phil McAlister scored a good try out wide from quick ruck ball. Davy Nicholson completed Armagh's scoring with a drop goal in front of the posts and this result now leaves Armagh top of the table with an away fixture at Dromore on Wednesday 21st November.
