City of Armagh seconds travelled to Civil Service on Saturday to play the local 1st fifteen in a conference league game. The game which was played on an excellent playing surface was a great advert for running rugby with the Armagh forwards and backs displaying great mobility and handling skills.

City of Armagh Seconds travelled to Hatrick Park to play Rainey seconds in a league game on New Year’s eve. Armagh played with the elements in the first half and soon posed a threat to Rainey with an attacking move led by Freddie Cuttle deep in Rainey’s 22 ending with the ball running dead.
Rainey put Armagh under some early pressure, however as in the previous game against Ballynahinch, the defence was well organised with numerous double hits repelling any attacks.

City of Armagh Seconds played Ballynahinch seconds in a home 2nd xv league fixture on Saturday on the thirds pitch as the first and second pitches were unplayable due to frost. The game started with the home forwards under pressure in the scrums, however good driving, mauling by the forwards and intelligent use of the ball by the backs created good field position in Ballynahinch’s 22.

City of Armagh Seconds played Ballymena Seconds in a top of the table clash at the Palace Grounds on Saturday. In what was a bruising encounter Ballymena came out on top late on with a final score of 06 points to 32.
At half time with Mathew Steenson converting two long range penalties the score was 06–06 with Armagh posing plenty of problems for a good Ballymena team. On 53 minutes Ballymena scored their first try to give them a lead of 06–13. View Report |

City of Armagh Seconds were on the road again last Saturday when they travelled to play city of Derry seconds in the 2nd fifteen league. There were a number of changes to the side which defeated Ards the previous week with Brian McConnell and Andrew Morton coming the front row, Willy Martin into the second row, Robbie Faloon came off the wing to play scrum half, Mark Allen and John Faloon stepped up to play on the wings.

City of Armagh Seconds travelled to Newtownards on Saturday to play the local second fifteen in the conference league. Not having played for 3 weeks Armagh looked very rusty early on. Dominance by the forwards in the scrums was negated by poor decision making with ball in hand.
Two early penalties by Mathew Steenson to one by Ards gave Armagh a lead of 6 points to 3. City of Armagh 2nd XV played their Banbridge counterparts at Rifle park on Saturday in the Second Round of the Junior Cup. Despite winning comfortably in the 2nd XV League a few weeks earlier, Armagh struggled to impose themselves during the first half when they had the advantage of a stiff breeze.

With City of Armagh gaining senior status it is now up to the 2nd XV to represent the club in the prestigious Junior Cup and Towns cup events. The team rose to the first challenge when they beat Qualifying 2 side Lisburn 1XV in a bruising encounter at the Palace Grounds on Saturday.
With the 1st XV playing their game in Cork the Junior Cup game at the Palace grounds drew a good home crowd. 3 forced changes were made to the side that beat Banbridge 2s last week. The game started off at a frantic pace with the young Inst team showing their intentions from the kick off by running the ball at every opportunity. Inst scored a try wide out after 5 minutes through their pacy winger and with the added points Armagh found themselves 0-07 down.
